A 56k connection, gentle reader, is one of the greatest inventions of humankind. I love the ultra-slow connection that I’m using right now, a connection that threatens to time out, oh, EVERY OTHER SECOND.
Who’s complaining, though? I’m thankful for the technology. I’m thankful for the privilege to use my phone connection for uses other than telephoning. I’m thankful for the opportunities to build my patience. I mean, there’s a certain charm to triple-clicking the AOL button, listening to the ol’ modem piss and moan, and curbing the desire to choke the life out of that damn phone cord dangling out of the back of my computer.
I suppose Sharing Time is over now, huh? How I miss my $120k Ethernet connection.
