I don’t want you to think I’m ignoring you, so here’s a dinky little placeholder. Three of us plan on exploring an abandoned military base tonight, which probably sounds more exciting than it has any right to be.

Who knows? Perhaps we’ll find a good restaurant. A thoroughly decadent shopping experience. Fantastic infrastructure. Or depleted uranium shells. I’m sure you’re on the edge of your seat, gentle reader. Don’t fall off.

I’ve been kicking around the idea of resurrecting this hodgepodge of stories, thanks in no small way to two particular gentle readers. It is indeed flattering to receive such unwarranted requests, and perhaps some fan service shall be produced in good time.

The main problem is figuring out how to tie all these threads together in a convincing, engaging, and slightly lewd manner. Much is at stake here, gentle reader, including a very real possibility of walking away with the Dullitzer Prize. Then again, the coveted Caldecock Award is another possibility. Let’s hope the Muse hasn’t wandered into an alleyway again.

I usually shy away from pimping links, gentle reader, because the Interweb has a tendency to dampen childlike wonderment. Sharing a link is almost like performing a magic trick: you forward a link to friends and expect them to gasp in awe, Laugh Their Asses Off, Roll on the Floor Laughing, or any combination thereof.

More often than not, though, your intended audience has already seen the link, causing the LTAO, LOL, or ROTFL to fall dismally flat. You feel like you’ve pissed away all your funny points. To wit:

“Are you ready for a neat trick?” you ask someone in the audience. “Are you ready?”

“Yeah,” says some guy. “Hit me.”

“Okay, there,” you say, “Aren’t you amazed?”

“About what?” asks the bewildered audience member.

“Well, I just pulled a rabbit out of a hat,” you explain.

“Oh,” comes the reply. “A rabbit?”

“Yeah, a rabbit,” you say.

“The kind that hops around?” says the guy rather despondently.

“Yeah, the kind that hops around,” you clarify.

“Out of a hat?”

“Yeah, out of a hat. Like the kind you wear.”

And this relates to linking because i–actually, I don’t remember how it relates to linking. No matter. Why don’t you just click on this link and leave me alone?
