Devoted gentle readers may have noticed that Secondhand Rants often doesn’t load completely. This is a recent development, and I’m not sure whom I should blame for making our beloved skyscraper into a gross caricature of good business. A part of me says it’s either Blogger or Aplus.net, but the more accepting part of me blames things on Blogger and Aplus.net.

While I’ve only given this DVD a single viewing, it promises to grow on me like some avant-garde parasite. I’m not exactly sure what Ebert and Travers and all the other praisemongers were chirping about, as the dialogue (with a few notable exceptions) often strays into musings that are about as convoluted as convoluted dialogue that frequently strays into more convoluted dialogue. See? Kinda like that, but even worse.

What is easy to appreciate the first time around, however, is the absolutely trippy animation. For a mere 7.99, gentle reader, you too could own a copy. Alternatively, I could sign my copy and sell it to you for 17.99.

What began as a grand departure from cold cereal by way of cooked–that’s right, gentle reader, cooked–food turned into a cleaning frenzy yesterday evening. Lt. NeatFreak tramped into the studio, declared that no lasagna would be made, and cheekily commanded me, your beloved CEO, to make my place semi-presentable. To think that a Fortune 01 media mogul would take any guff about bare minimum habitability and the like–the nerve!

I promptly caved in and started scrubbing the counters and throwing out lots of metaphorical shit, and two-and-a-half hours later, the skyscraper was sparkly as sin. Did you know that I can strip paint with my bare fingernails? Indeed, ’tis another item to add to my skill set. And did you also know that Lysol wipes have the added benefit of giving you buzzes? Suffice to say that the results of the Cleanstravaganza were enough to make any Merry Maid cry, clean up her tears, and then cry again in the face of imminent obsolescence. Thanks, Lt. NeatFreak!
