Quote of the day: “Walking my metaphorical dog.” Who uttered these words? You’ll have to go west, gentle reader, to find out.

I deserve fifty-two lashes for failing to introduce Patrick’s new blog in a timely manner. “Paltry Puissance,” he calls it, and I had to make a quick trip to my favorite online dictionary to discover what “puissance” means. In case you’re too lazy to click on the link, it means “power” or “might,” so the title presents a tasty conundrum. Paltry power? Is that a paradox? Does the subtext create some sort of literary tension? A headache suddenly hit me, forcing me to take a nap.

You want more news? That’s too bad, especially since I’m going to type out my metaphorical I-don’t-have-anything-worthwhile-to-talk-about-message. Oh, wait. It’s a literal I-don’t-have-anything-worthwhile-to-talk-about-message.

My week of gluttony and non-alcoholic revelry continues, gentle reader, without any loss of momentum. I’m usually not a rabid, slobbering fan of Merle’s, but with good company, the food just goes down smoother. Thanks go out to all parties involved.

Here’s a puzzle for you, dear reader. Is a roadtrip still a roadtrip if you’re home before you even turn back?

Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, glorious afternoon: I could die a happy man there.
