Pensive, gentle reader, I am pensive. A couple of weeks ago, I spilled out all of my job-related angst onto the Worldwide Webiverse–thank you, Mr. Morgendorffer, for that catchy phrase–and it wasn’t a pretty sight. Thankfully, two interviews appeared out of nowhere, but I never followed up on what happened, did I?
To make a nonexistent story stay that way, one employer decided to clam up like an uncooked Long John Silver’s entrĂ©e after learning that I could only start well after May. And the other employer, while very cordial and responsive, required that I fly out to Los Angeles to interview. Once again, Providence shone on me and I heard from my old boss at Peel. A chance to work full-time and remain in the Midwest, you say? Where do I sign up? By next Wednesday, arrangements will be finalized, and I need to tell you these things because you care. Right? RIGHT?
And tomorrow? Tomorrow, I will return to Peel for an interview. Holy fruits, I hope I don’t choke.
A few days ago, gentle reader, I wished for a pet sparrow. Suffice to say that this wish came partly true today when a flock of us–alumni Lisa, Chantal, and Ellen deserve special mention–dined and grazed outside of God’s gift to the culinary world.
Bold street fowl flittered back and forth as tables doffed their umbrellas to nobody in particular. The company was engaging, the food tasted exquisite as usual, the weather, excellent; the entire experience, just wholesome. The sparrows and the finches enjoyed my burrito as much as I did.
And no, I did not feed chicken to the birds. I would feel vaguely guilty for fostering intra-species cannibalism, after all.
When I was a wee lad, gentle reader, this book taught me all I needed to know about nutrition. Having established that, consider the items I ate today:
1. Spanish Omelet Bagel from McDonald’s
2. Hashbrown from McDonald’s
3. Hi-C laced with Sprite
4. Half a Steak, Egg, and Cheese Bagel from McDonald’s
5. Too much White Rabbit Candy
That’s right, gentle reader; I finished my first bag of Candy today. Let’s hope the glorious tennis I played this afternoon will counteract the evils of bad nutrition. Doctor, get me a stomach pump.
