“You left it hanging. Our history’s in flux. You should never leave it hanging,” Muse told me tonight with mock exasperation.

“It wasn’t very polite, was it?” I said. “You’re absolutely right. I’m covered in shame.”

“So?”

“So I’m going to fix it. Penance, one line at a time,” I solemnly replied.

“I’ll get a pot going. Maybe two?” Muse asked as I shuffled to the study.

“Make it three, please. And thanks.”
